Authorities in Clay County responded to a small plane crash near Vermillion Airport on Friday afternoon.
The plane, found upside down near the runway, had two occupants who escaped without injuries.
The pilot, facing engine failure, attempted an emergency landing in a harvested field but was hindered by snow, causing the plane to overturn.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
