The South Dakota Capitol received a bomb threat on Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation by Capitol Protective Services.
The threat, part of a nationwide state capitol bomb threat hoax, claimed the presence of well-hidden explosives in the Capitol. Despite the knowledge of the hoax, a thorough search was conducted as a precaution, revealing no suspicious items.
Similar threats were reported in multiple states, leading to evacuations, but the FBI stated there was no specific and credible threat.
South Dakota Highway Patrol and Capitol Protective Services are continuing the investigation, with Capitol offices urged to report any suspicious activity.
