South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks will host their annual Open House Weekend this Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 21. During this weekend, all South Dakota state parks and recreation areas will be free to enter. A number of parks will also be hosting special events to kick off the summer season.
The Open House Weekend is a great opportunity to explore South Dakota’s beautiful state parks and recreation areas. There are something for everyone, from hiking and biking trails to fishing and boating opportunities. And with free admission, there’s no excuse not to come out and enjoy the great outdoors.
In addition to free admission, the Open House Weekend also coincides with Free Fishing Weekend. This means that you can fish in any South Dakota state park or recreation area without a fishing license. However, fishing regulations and limits still apply.
