A delegation of prominent South Dakota officials, led by Lt. Gov. Larry Rhoden and Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Secretary Hunter Roberts, is embarking on a trade mission to Mexico.
The primary objective of this mission is to explore trade markets and business prospects, with a special focus on value-added agriculture enterprises.
In a press release from the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Secretary Hunter Roberts expressed enthusiasm about building strong South Dakota-Mexico relationships. He emphasized Mexico’s rapidly growing economy, existing trade ties, and diverse opportunities, making it a crucial trading market for South Dakota businesses.
Organized by South Dakota Trade, the mission includes participation from various businesses, such as Advanced Sunflower, Agropur US, C.A.W Industries, and Houdek.
Luke Lindberg, President & CEO of South Dakota Trade, highlighted the importance of connecting willing buyers with eager sellers, particularly in showcasing South Dakota’s value-added agricultural products in Mexico.
This trade mission conveniently coincides with the Food Tech Summit and Expo, one of Latin America’s largest trade shows.
According to state data, Mexico ranks as South Dakota’s second-largest international trade partner, trailing only Canada.
