South Dakota Receives $1.25 Million Grant to Combat Alzheimer’s Stigma and Promote Awareness

The South Dakota Department of Health has been granted $1.25 million to establish an Alzheimer’s and Dementia prevention program aimed at raising public awareness and combating the stigma associated with these conditions.

The initiative seeks to build a robust dementia infrastructure and educate the public about Alzheimer’s disease.

Leslie Morrow, the executive director of the state Alzheimer’s Association, emphasizes the importance of early detection and diagnosis, as there are now FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer’s in its earliest stages.

The grant will also provide resources and education for younger-onset dementia sufferers in their 40s and 50s.
