As of the week ending January 28, 2024, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported South Dakota’s topsoil moisture supplies at 6% very short, 19% short, 73% adequate, and 2% surplus.
Subsoil moisture supplies were at 7% very short, 28% short, 63% adequate, and 2% surplus.
Additionally, the Winter Wheat Condition in the state was reported as 1% very poor, 4% poor, 42% fair, 51% good, and 2% excellent.
