South Dakota’s tourism industry experienced remarkable growth in 2023, setting new records in visitor spending and total visitation.
According to a study by Tourism Economics, visitors spent $4.96 billion, marking a 4.9% increase from 2022.
The state welcomed a record 14.7 million visitors, signifying a 2.3% rise. Governor Kristi Noem highlighted the state’s appeal, emphasizing the positive impact on the economy.
The tourism sector supported 57,835 jobs, generated $2.2 billion in income, and contributed $384 million in tax revenue.
The success underscores South Dakota’s position as a premier travel destination.
