Standoff in Sioux Falls Prompts Road Closure as Authorities Deal with Armed Woman

A standoff in Sioux Falls unfolded Thursday when authorities attempted to serve a warrant to a woman in her 40s, leading to her making threats about having a weapon.

The incident prompted the closure of a section of West 12th Street, and the Sioux Falls Police Department, including a SWAT team and negotiators, is currently engaged in resolving the situation peacefully.

An adult and a child have left the residence, leaving the woman as the sole occupant.

The woman’s warrants include charges such as domestic aggravated assault, protection order violations, and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities are urging her to surrender without incident.
