53-year-old, Chand Alan Achterburg, was arrested on Saturday after a domestic assault call escalated into a standoff, during which he shot arrows at authorities.
Deputies from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the domestic assault report involving a firearm at Achterburg’s residence between Brandon and Garretson.
He engaged with deputies, brandishing a bow and arrow. Following his initial interaction with law enforcement, Achterburg later pointed the bow and arrow at passing vehicles, prompting a renewed response from deputies.
Subsequently, the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office deployed their SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Unit, as Achterburg barricaded himself inside the residence.
The standoff involved Achterburg shooting arrows and throwing liquids at the law enforcement vehicle.
Ultimately, he was arrested for multiple felony charges, including aggravated domestic assault and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
