Suspect Arrested After Officer-Involved Shooting and Pursuit on I-29

Sioux Falls police and South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to two related officer-involved shootings involving 25-year-old Samir Albaidhani, a wanted parole absconder, on Tuesday, April 1.

The incident began when Albaidhani shot a Sioux Falls police officer during an attempted arrest.

After stealing a vehicle, he fled, leading to a 30-mile pursuit on I-29.

A second gunfight occurred near Beresford, where Albaidhani was shot and apprehended.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shootings, and the officers involved are on administrative leave.
