Suspects caught in Aberdeen car thefts

Beginning early last week, the Aberdeen Police Department began receiving reports of thefts from vehicles.

Throughout the week, authorities received more reports of thefts and also reports of stolen vehicles. As the investigation was ongoing, police posted several videos of the suspects. The APD received several tips that aided in identifying the suspects.

Over the weekend, the APD was notified that the suspects in our cases were taken into custody after a pursuit with Minnesota authorities. They were informed that the law enforcement was forced to use the PIT maneuver to disable the vehicle. The vehicle the suspects were driving was stolen but was not a vehicle stolen from Aberdeen. The three suspects were juveniles and were on probation.

Authorities believe these three suspects were involved with at least eight thefts from vehicles, five stolen vehicles, and three stolen firearms. The three suspects will be brought back to South Dakota to face charges.

If you are the victim of theft and have not yet made a report, please contact Brown County Dispatch, at 605-626-7911, to make a report.

The Aberdeen Police Department would like to emphasize to the public to take precautions to protect your property. Please lock your vehicles. Remove valuables from your vehicles and do not leave firearms in unlocked vehicles.
