Frank Ashley, a 57-year-old inmate at the South Dakota State Penitentiary, has passed away.
The Department of Corrections announced his death on Tuesday.
Ashley was serving sentences for third-degree and fourth-degree rape, sexual contact with a child under the age of 16, and aggravated incest in Pennington County.
This marks the fourth inmate death in the Department of Corrections in 2023 and the third in July 2023.
