A 44-year-old man from rural Sinai, South Dakota, lost his life in a tragic accident when a firearm accidentally discharged during a practice session.
The incident occurred between 12 and 5 p.m. on Tuesday at 217th Street near 475th Avenue.
The man was struck by a bullet while crossing a panel fence on his way back from the target.
Despite the immediate response of emergency crews, their life-saving efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
