Yankton police and EMS responded to a distressing call late Wednesday night, finding an unresponsive infant at a residence in the 700 block of Capitol.
Despite efforts to save the child, they were later pronounced deceased upon arrival at the ER.
Jennifer Schurman was arrested on charges including Second-Degree Manslaughter and Abuse or Cruelty of a Minor.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities extending gratitude to assisting agencies.
