ARNOLDS PARK, IOWA – Two Sioux Falls men were nearly drowned in separate incidents on West Lake Okoboji on July 4.
The first incident happened at 4:11 p.m. in the Millers Bay area. A 21-year-old man was on a water vessel when he ended up in the water. Bystanders were unable to rescue him, but rescue divers were able to pull him from the lake and resuscitate him. He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Sioux Falls.
The second incident happened at 7:31 p.m. at the Arnolds Park City Beach. A 22-year-old man was face down in the water after he had attempted to swim to a buoy when he struggled in the water. A bystander started CPR on the man, and Arnolds Park Police continued CPR and also used an AED. Resuscitation efforts continued during ambulance transport to a local hospital.
The men’s conditions at this time are unknown.
