U.S. Department of Justice Charges Two Foreign Nationals in “Swatting” and Bomb Threat Incidents, Including S.D. Mines Case

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged two foreign nationals, Thomasz Szabo of Romania and Nemanja Radovanovic of Serbia, with multiple counts of threats and false information regarding explosives, including a bomb threat at South Dakota Mines in 2021.

The pair are accused of participating in a “swatting” conspiracy that began in 2020, targeting over 100 individuals, businesses, religious institutions, and a university.

The charges include one count of conspiracy, 29 counts of threats and false information, and four counts of transmitting threats across state and international lines.

This case is the result of a multi-agency investigation involving the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and U.S. Capitol Police.
