Over the weekend, authorities in Vermillion launched an investigation into another sexual assault that occurred in a University of South Dakota (USD) residence hall.
The incident, reported to the USD Police Department, took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 7.
The assault was reportedly committed by an acquaintance, and authorities have reassured that there is no ongoing threat to the campus community.
The University Police Department encourages individuals who believe they may have been a victim of a crime or witnessed one to reach out to local law enforcement.
