31-year-old Spencer Moen from Watertown, S.D., has been charged with murder and contributing to the deprivation of a minor in North Dakota following the death of his wife.
Moen was arrested at his West Fargo home after authorities discovered a woman’s body.
According to court documents, Moen informed police that his wife, Sonja, had fallen asleep in the bathtub and was unresponsive and cold when he woke up.
He called 911 after taking their children to daycare.
Moen admitted to having an altercation with his wife the previous night and revealed that she had fallen on garage steps, leading to facial bruising. He also confessed to punching her.
An autopsy revealed that Sonja died due to blunt force trauma to her head and had sustained a fractured rib.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support Sonja Moen’s family, intended for funeral, legal expenses, and the care of her children.
