Watertown’s Bramble Park Zoo has been denied accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), primarily due to outdated animal enclosures and holding areas that no longer meet AZA’s updated standards for size, complexity, and enrichment.
Although the zoo still complies with USDA and federal regulations, losing AZA accreditation impacts certain AZA-affiliated programs.
City officials assure the public that the zoo remains open, and staff are actively developing plans to address the issues raised by the AZA.
