Woman punched and car windows broken in Sioux Falls

A 20-year-old woman was punched and had her car windows broken after pulling into a parking lot in eastern Sioux Falls on Saturday night. The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m.

The victim, who has not been identified, had pulled over to use her phone when two cars blocked her in, one in front and one in back. The people in all three cars got out, and one of the suspects punched the victim. The victim did not know the suspect.

The victim was able to get back into her car and lock the doors, but the suspect then used a bottle to break the windows on her car. The victim hit one of the cars when she backed up to get away, but she was able to leave the parking lot. The other cars began chasing her, and one of them made a wide turn and hit an uninvolved car at an intersection.

The victim drove to the police station to report the incident. The suspect, 21-year-old Nyankiir Abot of Sioux Falls, was arrested for aggravated assault, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, having an open container, and having substitute license plates. The victim did not have any serious injuries.
