Yankton Man Charged with Manslaughter After Fatal Apartment Shooting

20-year-old Cody Auch of Yankton faces criminal charges, including first-degree manslaughter, following a fatal shooting in an apartment.

The incident occurred on September 24 when police were called to the Avera Emergency Department after a gunshot wound victim, identified as T.H., passed away.

Surveillance footage suggests that the shooting took place in T.H.’s apartment, where Auch had been “showing off” a handgun to friends while consuming alcohol.

Auch admitted that it was his gun that fired the fatal shot but couldn’t recall if he or another person was holding it at the time due to alcohol consumption.

A search warrant led to the discovery of the firearm and a spent shell casing in the apartment.

Auch faces potential life in prison if convicted of first-degree manslaughter.
