The final ear of the 2019 Corn Palace mural theme, “Salute to Military” was nailed in place Wednesday afternoon thanks to the persistent efforts of the decorating crew and a little help from Mother Nature.
Decorator Dan McCloud is pleased. “It turned out really nice and I hope all the veterans love it,” said McCloud. “I think it really added to the building and to the veterans and to the community.”
This is his fifteenth year decorating the iconic landmark. “It’s always rewarding when you get done and you can drive by it and look at it,” McCloud continued. “I did that, we did that. I always look to see if something falls off,” McCloud laughed.
McCloud praised the Dakota Wesleyan University art students who designed the nine murals and the five-member decorating crew for a job well-done. “Ears” to you!
