24 Hour Emergency Mental Health Crisis Care now available in Mitchell

There’s a new option available in Mitchell for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

Michelle Carpenter is Executive Director of Dakota Counseling Institute Downtown. “We have psychiatric appointments, outpatient appointments and then we would have our appropriate regional beds which is really a mental health emergency room,” said Carpenter.

DCI Downtown is staffed 24 hours a day. “You can call and talk to a qualified mental health professional and, if they feel it’s necessary, you can come in, you have a safe place to stay,” Carpenter explained. “We’ll connect people with resources, do whatever we can to help you bypass your time of crisis.”

The DCI Downtown phone number is 605-990-4357.

Carpenter says DCI Downtown is located at 123 West First Avenue on the southeast corner of West First and Rowley.

The facility opened earlier this week and is awaiting new signage.
