437 Project arrives in Mitchell with a message of hope

The 437 Project relay arrived in Mitchell Saturday afternoon. A dozen runners set out on the 437 mile journey from the South Dakota-Wyoming border on Thursday. Its mission: to boost awareness of suicide prevention and raise donations for South Dakota’s 211 Helpline and the national 988 Suicide Lifeline.

Team member Lisa Larson of Mitchell led the group down Main Street to the Corn Palace. “How fantabulous the Mitchell community is,” said Larson as she closed in on the Corn Palace. “437 Project, there’s nothing like it. (We’re out here, one step at a time, trying to help others, spreading awareness and hope.”

Hundreds of community members and well-wishers greeted Larson and her teammates in front of the Mitchell landmark.

The 437 Project wraps up Sunday afternoon in Sioux Falls.
