A motorcyclist died in an early Sunday morning crash in Sioux Falls

A 39-year-old man died early Sunday morning after colliding with a semi on Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported around 1:25 am, the 39 year old male driver of a Freightliner Cascadia semi was traveling southbound on Interstate 29 near mile marker 77 in the far-right lane and slowing down to take the 26th Street exit. The driver of a motorcycle was traveling the same direction and rear-ended the semi.

The driver and a 41 year old male passenger in the semi were not injured. The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
