Students, administrators and community members gathered at the Mitchell High School construction site Friday for a ceremonial “beam signing”. It’s a first for Superintendent Joe Childs. “It symbolizes more than just a hunk of metal,” Childs said. “It symbolizes the commitment to raising the bar for the future…just like all the support that the people here today offered us, this beam will offer to the building.” He added, “So I think it’s just a fun way to recognize that.”
School Board president Brittni Flood, MHS Student Body president Ava Brannan and Principal Justin Siemsen invited attendees to sign the beam prior to it being hoisted in place in the near future.
The project is scheduled for completion in the late spring of 2025.
