As part of National Agriculture week, the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee hosted its annual Ag In The Classroom for fourth grade students from Mitchell and surrounding towns.
Heidi Rients of the Natural Resources Conservation Service is a committee member. “Our goal from the Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee is to educate all ages in the Mitchell area on agriculture, which is an important part of our community and our county,” said Rients.
She’s thankful for the teachers. “I appreciate their support for bringing the kids in and ask questions,” she said.
The youngsters got an up-close look at some of the components of agriculture including livestock, soils, equipment and safety to name a few.
Several FFA members who study Agriculture at Mitchell CTE hosted two exhibits and encouraged other organizations to participate.
