170 runners enjoyed perfect weather Sunday for the annual Palace City Kiwanis Half Marathon + Relay, 10K and 5K.
Club president Linda McEntee says runners came from South Dakota and beyond. “California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Wisconsin,” said McEntee. “They all were just in awe of everything that we put together.”
The first-place runner finished the 13-mile course in around an hour and twenty-five minutes.
McEntee says the annual run raised around $10,000 for the Mitchell Kiwanis Club. “Funds are going to go to great projects like we have with the Mitchell Caring Closet, and the High School’s Food Pantry, the Safe Place, the Snack Pack Program, Big Friend, Little Friend,” McEntee said.
The course took runners halfway around Lake Mitchell and looped back to the start-finish line at the Corn Palace.
