Area school superintendent tapped for Mitchell High School Principal

The Mitchell School District has announced  Justin Siemsen has verbally agreed to assume the upcoming role of Mitchell High School Principal beginning July 1, 2023.  Siemsen brings more than 21 years of experience to MHS, serving in various roles such as a teacher, coach, customer support specialist, and most recently he has spent the past eight years as Sanborn Central School District’s HS Principal and Superintendent.

Siemsen is known for his dedication and commitment to education. He’s a leader who understands the importance of providing a positive learning environment for students and supporting teachers in their efforts to provide high-quality education. During his tenure at Sanborn Central School District, Siemsen has been instrumental in implementing new programs and initiatives that have helped to improve student achievement and engagement.

Siemsen holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Huron University, a Master’s Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University, and a Specialist Degree from the University of South Dakota.  He’s passionate about education and is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

“I am glad to welcome Mr. Siemsen to the Mitchell School District where I know that he will continue the invaluable work of improving our school by delivering a quality education for our students”, said Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joe Childs. “The Mitchell High School community is eager to work with Mr. Siemsen, and we look forward to a bright future with his leadership.”

The  Mitchell School Board will consider the official decision for hire during its April 24 board meeting.
