A 28 year old Mitchell man is charged with setting a fire that destroyed an unoccupied home near Ethan on November 9th. The Davison County Sheriff’s Office says Michael D. Janssen was arrested for second-degree arson following an interview at the Sheriff’s Office. The fire at the corner of 263rd Street and Highway 37 appeared suspicious.
Investigators including Deputy Tim Reitzel along with the Ethan Fire Dept, State Division of Criminal Investigation and the SD Fire Marshal’s Office were led to Janssen who offered a full confession about what had happened the night of the fire. He was taken to the Davison County Jail and has since posted bond.
