We’re learning more regarding an attempted kidnapping Thursday afternoon. Mitchell Police were called around 3:35 to the 1700 block of North Kimball for an attempted kidnapping. Responding officers were told the suspect was no longer at the scene and the child was safe with its mother. Officers and detectives immediately began sweeping the area for the vehicle.
Officers determined the suspect was in a recent domestic relationship with the child’s mother and involved in an argument regarding property inside the residence. The male suspect apparently threatened to take the child in order to get his property back.
When the investigation ended, there was no arrest made in reference to the suspected kidnapping and the incident was resolved.
Police will not be releasing any further information at this time.
