Beck named Mitchell Chamber-MADC CEO

Geri Beck, of Mitchell, will be the new CEO of the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce and Development Corporation.

“Geri is an experienced leader in our community, and she brings proficiency in finance, fundraising and organizational management,” said Jason Stoebner, MADC president. “We are so pleased that a native South Dakotan and current Mitchell resident rose to top of our nationwide search.”

Beck has been the director of major gift services for St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain since 2012, overseeing fundraising teams in several locations and leading multimillion-dollar fundraising campaigns.

Previously, Beck was the CEO for the Independent Community Bankers of South Dakota (2011-12), foundation director for Avera Queen of Peace Hospital (2005-2011), a business banker for Wells Fargo Bank (2001-2005), vice president of finance and administration at Dakota Wesleyan University (1996-2001), and she held various financial positions in state government. Beck also is a former co-owner of the Cornerstone Coffeehouse & Deli.

“Our combined chamber and development corporation structure is somewhat unique,” said Lori Baye, Mitchell Chamber president. “Geri’s career to this point provides great transferrable experiences and skills to make her a strong relationship-builder and deal-maker.  This is a real win for the Mitchell community.”

“I have always enjoyed being an active community member in Mitchell,” said Beck.  “I am grateful to have the chance to lead the chamber and development team and to have the opportunity to have a positive influence on the future of our community.”

Beck holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. She is a Direct Marketing Association Certified Marketing Professional and a Certified Fundraising Executive. Beck has served as president of the Mitchell Rotary Club, the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce and the First Lutheran Church Council. She was an elected member of the Mitchell City Council.

She is married to Doug Beck and they have two adult children.
