Bridgewater-Emery School’s Career and Technical Education program was recently awarded a $1,500 Operation Round-Up® grant from Central Electric Cooperative to help purchase a welder.
The school built a new CTE building for construction management and agricultural programs. In the grant application for the welder, Bridgewater-Emery CTE Team Leader Connie Whistler explained the program takes a hands-on approach to teaching students about high-need career fields.
“The new welders and welding technology will have a positive impact on students by providing them with better educational opportunities, improving their skill development and enhancing their prospects in the job market,” Whistler said.
Besides the grant from Central Electric, the CTE program has also received private donations for equipment and supplies. To learn more about Bridgewater-Emery School’s CTE program and ways you can support it, contact the school.
Operation Round-Up is a voluntary program in which cooperative members round up their monthly statement to the next whole dollar, and the extra cents accumulate to support area projects. LeAnn Moe represents Hanson County on the Operation Round-Up board of trustees.
The next Operation Round-Up grant application deadline is May 1. For more information about the grant program, contact Central Electric Cooperative at 1-800-477-2892.
