Charges filed following execution of a search warrant

A 44 year old man from Plankinton is facing charges in connection with threats made to a female victim. According to court documents, the victim told authorities on December 12th Cory Cumings contacted her by telephone and threatened to hire a hit man to kill her. The victim provided an audio recording to authorities in which Cumings can be heard telling her he would hire a hit man. She was granted a protection order.

On Thursday a federal search warrant of Cumings business in Mitchell and his residence was executed. During a search of the residence, approximately three ounces of THC wax was found in his bedroom. A digital scale with a white crystalline substance on the surface was also discovered in a safe only Cumings had access to. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

He’s charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of maintaining a place where drugs are kept, used or sold, all class five felonies.

Cumings is also charged with domestic stalking and unlawful use of a phone, both class one misdemeanors.

He was booked into the Davison County Jail and later released on bond.
