As the 4th of July gets closer, the Department of Public Safety would like to remind residents that the use of Novelty Fireworks, Fireworks, and Ground and Handheld Fireworks is permitted between July 3rd at 12:00 noon through July 4th at 11:59 PM. However, the use of these items differ between city limits and Lake Mitchell.
CITY LIMITS: A person MAY use, or otherwise discharge Ground and Handheld Fireworks consistent with manufacturer direction between the hours of 12:00 noon and 11:59 PM on July 3rd and July 4th so long as such persons douses and safely dispose all waste resulting from such activity. Such Ground and Handheld Fireworks MAY be used within all city limits but only on private property with express knowledge and permission of the property owner.
Items allowed IN CITY LIMITS:
Party Poppers, Snappers, Toy Smoke Devices, Snakes, Wire Sparklers, Toy Caps, Cone Fountains, Illuminating Torches, Wheels, Ground Spinners and Flitter Sparklers.
LAKE AREA: A person MAY use, or otherwise discharge fireworks consistent with manufacturer directions between the hours of 12:00 noon and 11:59 PM on July 3rd and 4th, so long as such persons douses and safely dispose of all waste resulting from such activity. Such activity may only occur on property lying between the shoreline of Lake Mitchell and the boundary of the nearest public right-of-way except the Park and Recreation Board may prohibit fireworks at Lake Mitchell Campground.
Items allowed IN THE LAKE AREA:
Firecrackers, Skyrockets, Roman Candles, Aerial Shells, Ground and Handheld Fireworks, Novelty Fireworks.
