Mayor Bob Everson announced Monday that Corn Palace Director Scott Schmidt has resigned. “He is taking a position as a faculty member at Dakota Wesleyan University,” said Everson. Schmidt’s final day with the City is August 25th, the last day of the annual Corn Palace Festival. “Scott just had a new little baby daughter and there’s a lot of time commitment related to running the Corn Palace and his information to me was he wasn’t looking for a position but it happened to come up and he took it,” Everson said. “We wish him the best of luck.”
Schmidt has served as Corn Palace Director since February 1st, 2016. Everson says the city will start its search for a new Corn Palace Director soon.
