Firefighters are conducting mop up work as progress is continuing on the lines of the First Thunder Fire southwest of Rapid City.Incident Commander Brandon Sanchez says containment on the fire remains at 41% and the size of the fire remains at 157 acres. During Thursday’s fire briefing, he says lines have held and they’ll continue working on further containment.
Jason Mitzel with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says the pre-evacuation notices have been lifted, but some roads in the area of the fire remain closed.
A three-day trend is predicted to bring favorable weather to the Black Hills. Temperatures into the 70s and higher relative humidities are expected.
