CTE students get a lesson in manufacturing from M.A.M.A.

As part of South Dakota Manufacturing Week, a group of sixth grade Mitchell Middle School CTE students got an up close look at careers in manufacturing Tuesday thanks to M.A.M.A…..short for Mitchell Area Manufacturers Association.

Each year several manufacturing organizations volunteer their time to share future employment opportunities with the youngsters.

Jeanette McDaniel is Compliance Manager at Enertech. She says there’s never a shortage of questions. “How many you have employed, how much do the units cost, where do you sell them,” said McDaniel.  “They have lots of good questions, so it’s fun to see them get engaged.”

Enertech manufactures geothermal heating and cooling units. “We sell all over the United States, Canada, and Cayman Islands, Hawaii,” McDaniel said. “So lots of different places the units go.”

The company employs around 85 people. Enertech started in Mitchell about 25 years ago and is still thriving.
