Absentee voting for the June primary election is supposed to start Friday, but many counties across the state, including Davison still don’t have ballots.
Davison County Auditor Kathy Wingert says the delay is on the state level. “My ballots have been sent in to be printed however, they have not been approved by the state, therefore they can’t be printed,” said Wingert
She says it’s frustrating. “We work as hard as we can to get stuff done diligently and in a timely manner on our end, but unfortunately the hang-up is with the state and I understand just some legislative decisions and late challenges on their end has really put their office in a bind.”
Wingert is unsure when she can start printing and hopes she’ll get clearance soon. She says the county is willing to pay the cost of expedited shipping once the issue is resolved.
