Davison County successfully completed its state-mandated post-election audit in a little over two hours Thursday afternoon.
Auditor Kathy Wingert appointed a five-person election audit board to handle the task. “Mix of different parties to ensure that there wasn’t anything happening that shouldn’t be happening”, Wingert said.
Davison County Precinct Two, which is Mount Vernon, was selected for the audit.
All ballots were examined one-by-one for the vote for President and Amendment “H”, and compared to the total tabulated on Election day.
The totals matched exactly.
Wingert was pleased with the outcome. “This was my first post-audit election and only the second consistently that Davison County has done, but everything just went so smooth,” said Wingert. “I think we got a couple of things that we do a little differently next time, but overall it was a successful day.”
The ballots were re-sealed in a box and placed back into storage.
Wingert then reported the results to the Secretary of State’s Office.
