The Davison County Veterans Service Office has built an excellent reputation in the region. It currently provides services to several area counties and now Douglas County is reaching out.
However, Veterans Service Officer T.J. Thomas told Davison County Commissioners it’s unfeasible at this point. “We don’t have enough people,” said Thomas. “We’re basically the busiest office in the state.” He added it would take more staff and additional funding to make it work.
Commission chairman Randy Reider concurred. “We can’t realistically do a partnership,” he said. Yet the county remains willing to consider other options.
On a side note, the Davison County Veterans Office is currently serving one-sixth of the state’s veterans.
