Mayor Jordan Hanson has appointed Lieutenant Dean Knippling as Mitchell’s new Chief of Police.
Knippling is grateful for the opportunity. “I’m very honored and pleased to enter this new phase of my career and look forward to where the Police Department is going to go,” said Knippling.
He joined the Department November 5th, 2001, and most recently served as Lieutenant, in essence, Assistant Chief.
His appointment will go before the Mitchell City Council at its August 19th meeting. Knippling has been interim Chief since former Chief Mike Koster retired earlier this summer
