The America’s 250th South Dakota Commission, in partnership with South Dakota Public Broadcasting, is hosting a formal Declaration of Independence reading as part of the nation’s “Sharing the Spirit of America.” On July 8th, Americans across the nation will read the Declaration of Independence together simultaneously, commemorating the 250th anniversary of its first public reading. South Dakota’s History Teacher of the Year, Girls and Boys State Governors, the recently named state Civics Bee Champion, and several local and state dignitaries will participate in this historic reading. This event marks part of a historic year celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
It’s set for 5pm Wednesday in South Dakota State Capitol Senate Chamber Gallery.
