Dr. Penny Tilton, Dakota Wesleyan University’s Administrative Chair of Nursing, was recently appointed to the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
According to its website, the Board of Nursing exists “to safeguard life, health, and the public welfare, and to protect citizens from unauthorized, unqualified, and improper application of nursing education programs and nursing practices.”
The eleven-member board is comprised of a variety of nurses including RNs, LPNs, as well as two members of the public. Tilton serves as an RN member representing RN nursing education.
Tilton’s first term on the board is in effect until October 2026.
Tilton, who holds the rank of Associate Professor at DWU, has been a member of the nursing department faculty since 2018. Prior to that she taught nursing at SDSU for six years.
Tilton and her husband, Tony, have two children. They make their home in Mt. Vernon.
