Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker and Mount Vernon native Chad Greenway was in Mitchell over the weekend with his latest venture: Gray Duck Vodka.

He says the idea for the name came from a Minnesota Vikings touchdown celebration against the Chicago Bears in 2017. “And when they played ‘duck-duck-goose’, the kids game, well that sparked this controversy because in Minnesota everyone grows up playing ‘duck-duck-gray duck’, not ‘duck-duck-goose’, ” said Greenway. “I grew up in South Dakota and played ‘duck-duck-goose’…the Minnesotans are very proud of the fact they play ‘duck-duck-gray duck’ and we kind of built off that and this brand became Gray Duck.”

Greenway gladly autographed bottles of Gray Duck and other memorabilia for hundreds of fans who gathered at two grocery stores that carry the Gray Duck label.
