A tour of the Ridgeview on Foster workforce housing project was on Governor Kristi Noem’s itinerary during her visit to Mitchell last week.
“I think what we’re doing here in Mitchell and what the community is putting together for meeting their housing needs is incredible,” said Noem. “Just the way that they’re utilizing partnerships between business and industry and community leaders to put in their workforce housing that they need and how quickly they’re doing it is fantastic.”
She said Mitchell has growth in its manufacturing sector including a new soybean processing plant. “We’re talking about these houses here will be full of families and families want a home that’s still the American dream,” the Governor added. “We want to know that we can provide that here in South Dakota and that’ll free up some apartments for students so we can continue to grow Mitchell Tech and DWU.”
Noem called Mitchell a “fun” community that’s thinking ahead on how it can grow.
