Ground broken on $500-million dollar processing project

The dirt’s been turned on a $500-million dollar multi-seed processing plant two miles south of Mitchell. The facility will have the capacity to process 35-million bushels of soybeans annually or the equivalent of one-million tons of high oil content crops.

MADC CEO Geri Beck addresses gathering at ground breaking

Mitchell Area Development Corporation CEO Geri Beck says it’s a huge project with some challenges. “Finding housing and finding workers to fill those houses,” said Beck. “We have some funds available for people who live out of state who will want to move Mitchell make it their home,” Beck said. “Just have them reach out to the MADC and see if we can help you with your expenses and moving.”

The plant is projected to be up and running in 2025 and employ 85 full-time workers with an annual payroll of approximately $5.5-million dollars.
