Congressman Dusty Johnson said Washington has been surprisingly productive in recent weeks — including recent action to improve housing affordability. “The House has passed out a major housing package,” said Johnson. “We have passed the five-year highway bill out of my committee, the Transportation Committee. We passed year-round E15 out of the House. We passed the farm bill out of the House. That’s just in the last couple of weeks,” he pointed out.
Johnson said a core group of lawmakers worked to reduce housing regulations which should help first-time homebuyers.
The “21st Century ROAD to Housing” bill passed the House with bipartisan support last week. Because it differed from the Senate’s version, the bill must now be re-considered in the Senate.
