The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is reporting A nine year old girl from Waterloo, Iowa died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash near Pierre.
Preliminary crash information indicates around 2:30, a 37 year old male from Indianola, Iowa was driving of a 2008 Polaris Utility Vehicle south on Spring Creek Drive. He attempted to turn around and rolled the vehicle. One of the passengers, a nine year old year old girl sustained fatal injuries. The second passenger, a sixteen year old male sustained minor injuries. The driver was not injured. None of the vehicle’s occupants were using seatbelts. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members. The investigation is ongoing.
