It’s A Done Deal

The Mitchell Area Development Corporation (MADC) extends its sincere appreciation to Avera for the generous donation of land on Ridgeview on Foster. This invaluable gift comes at a pivotal time, as the Mitchell community experiences growth, with the 2023 building permits being the highest we’ve seen in over 17 years. We are seeing business expansion which means job growth.

Avera’s commitment to community welfare and development is shown through this substantial contribution. The donated land will play a crucial role in addressing the escalating demand for housing, with the need to construct 40 new homes per year to accommodate the growing workforce.

“Avera believes in the power of community partnerships, and we are proud to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Mitchell community,” said Hilary Rockwell, Chief Executive Officer of Avera Queen of Peace. “By donating this land to the Mitchell Area Development Corporation, our intention is to support the creation of homes that will not only meet the immediate housing needs but also provide a foundation for a growing community. Our commitment extends beyond healthcare; it encompasses the well-being and vitality of the places we call home.”

“This gift from Avera Queen of Peace is a game-changer for our community,” said Mike Lauritsen, the workforce and housing director at The Mitchell Area Development Corporation. “As we strive to meet the housing demands resulting from the creation of new jobs each year, Avera’s support provides a solid foundation for growth. We are thankful for their commitment to the betterment of our community.”

The collaboration between The Mitchell Area Development Corporation and Avera Queen of Peace underscores the importance of partnerships between businesses and community-focused organizations. Avera’s vision aligns seamlessly with MADC’s mission to enhance the quality of life for Mitchell residents by providing them with suitable housing options.

“I stress the importance of Avera’s generous land donation for Ridgeview on Foster. With 600 open jobs in our community, this contribution is vital in creating homes that bridge the gap between job opportunities and housing needs” stated Terry Sabers.

“Avera’s commitment aligns with our mission, fostering economic growth and enhancing the well-being of Mitchell residents,” said Ken Schlimgen, MADC board president. “This project has now been in the works for two years and is now on the final steps.”
